Ops Ambang Merdeka yields five arrests and illegal alcohol seizure in Bau

KUCHING, Aug 31: Four Indonesians were arrested by the police for entering the state without proper documentation during ‘Ops Ambang Merdeka’ in Bau district yesterday.

Bau District Police Chief DSP Poge Nyaon in a press statement revealed the arrested foreigners were handed over to the Immigration Department for further investigation and action.

The police together with Royal Malaysian Customs Department personnel had also found a stash of alcohol with unpaid duties at a premises in Bau during the operation. The location and value of seizure was not disclosed in the statement.

“We had also arrested a male drug suspect who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and will be investigated under Section 15(1)(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” Poge added.

Meanwhile, Poge disclosed that traffic summonses were also issued for various traffic offences during the operation.

“We hope that the public will continue and cooperate with the police so that peace and harmony can be maintained in the district,” Poge added. — DayakDaily
