Injured trekker rescued from Giam Waterfall

KUCHING, Aug 31: A 19-year-old woman was rescued by firefighters at Giam Waterfall, Bakam, Miri after getting injured this afternoon.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) deployed a team to the scene immediately after receiving the emergency call at 4.05pm.


According to a statement from the State Bomba Operations Centre, the woman injured her ankle while jungle trekking with her friends, causing her to be unable to proceed with the trek.

The firefighters located the victim and her friends at 5.45pm and administered emergency treatment for the injury.

The injured woman was later sent to a hospital for immediate treatment and the Bomba team ended their operation at 6.30pm. — DayakDaily
