Only 50 per cent dine-in capacity allowed for all eateries

KUCHING, Nov 5: All eateries including cafes and restaurants in Kuching are only allowed to accept up to 50 per cent capacity for dine-in customers from tomorrow (Nov 6) onwards.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas announced this latest measure in view of Kuching’s status as Covid-19 red zone currently.

As for social and official events which will involve a mass gathering of people, he emphasised that only a maximum of 200 people are allowed.

“The gathering must also consider the size of space as well as physical social distancing,” he told a press conference on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, here, today.

Uggah also reminded function organisers of the availability of hand sanitisers, physical distancing as well as mandatory practice for those attending gatherings to constantly having their face masks on.

“The authorities will not hesitate to take strict actions in the event organisers are found to have violated the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued (by SDMC),” he said.

>Meanwhile, police issued two compounds in Padawan and one compound in Miri for violations related to SOP in the last 24 hours.

The Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued 132 oral, written and seizure notices under Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) (41), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) (27), Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) (24), MD Marudi (23), Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) (11), MDMJ (3), MD Serian (2) and MD Lundu (1). —DayakDaily
