KUCHING, May 19: An oil palm mill in Kota Samarahan was at the centre of a new Covid-19 cluster in Sarawak after 29 workers tested positive.
Dubbed the Jalan Endap Sawit Cluster by Sarawak Health Department, a total of 48 individuals have been screened so far.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said there were 29 positive cases including the index case, while 10 people tested negative and the remaining nine are awaiting laboratory test results.
All positive cases were referred to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Serian Hospital and also isolated at low-risk patients treatment centre (PKRC) under Kuching and Serian districts.
SDMC also announced the end of the Tembok Sri Aman cluster in Sri Aman, with 84 more clusters still active in the State.
Six of the active clusters recorded an increase of 32 cases today. — DayakDaily
