Not wearing face masks tops list of SOP violations

KUCHING, May 19: Not wearing a face mask topped the list of violations of standard operating procedures (SOP) accounting for eight of the 25 compounds issued by the police in the last 24 hours.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update report on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today reported that of the 25 compounds, six were issued in Bintulu followed by five each in Kuching, Padawan and Lawas, while Mukah has four for various SOP offences.

Other offences were crossing zone without permit (4), failure to maintain physical distancing (4), failure to update MySejahtera (3), failure to update manual log book (2), dining-in at eateries (2) and outside Enhance Movement Control Order (EMCO) area without permission (2).


This increased the number of compounds issued since March 18 to 6,593 as of today.

Meanwhile, the Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued 18 compounds on areas under the jurisdiction of Bintulu Development Authority (4), Kuching South City Council (3), MD Kapit (3), Padawan Municipal Council (2), MD Meradong and Julau (2) and one each in MD Serian and MD Sarikei for various SOP violations.

Topping the list of violations were failure to update logbook/incomplete checking-in information (10), dysfunctional body temperature scanner (2), operator allows dining-in (2) and one each for failure to wear a face mask, operating beyond permitted hours, failure to check-in with MySejahtera and failure to maintain physical distancing.
