KUCHING, Oct 6: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan welcomes investment and trade from New Zealand that support economic prosperity, social inclusivity and environmental sustainability.
Awang Tengah, who is Minister for International Trade and Investment (Mintred) said it is in line with Sarawak’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
According to him, in 2021, total trade between Sarawak and New Zealand was valued at RM467.3 million.
“Exports were valued at RM358 million, mainly contributed by petroleum products, fertiliser and animal feed, while imports were valued at RM109 million, mainly in dairy products, meats, fruits and vegetables,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, Awang Tengah received a courtesy call from High Commissioner of New Zealand to Malaysia Her Excellency Pam Dunn at his office.
During the courtesy call, various topics of common interests were discussed including exchanged ideas and views on a variety of subjects, especially in trade and investment where Sarawak and New Zealand can collaborate and create mutual benefits.
“Sectors promoted include high-tech, oil and gas, renewable energy, petrochemicals and commercial agriculture,” he added. — DayakDaily
