According to him, the role of a political secretary is to act as an intermediary between the minister and the people in a given area.

“For me, this responsibility is quite heavy because I was entrusted by the PRS leadership to regulate and take care of all the needs and welfare of PRS members from the Bidayuh community in eight divisions, and this includes the areas of Tanjung Datu, Opar, Tasik Biru, Serembu, Mambong, Tarat, Kedup, Bukit Semuja, and Tebedu.

“So, this responsibility is very big, because we have PRS representatives. Therefore, anything that happens in the Bidayuh area, I will bear this responsibility,” he was quoted as saying.

Nyomek made the remarks during his appointment as Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

TVS further reported that Nyomek is a retired police officer with the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) who has served with the Royal Malaysian Police for 36 years before his mandatory retirement in 2006. — DayakDaily
