To Nancy, the Sarawak Cultural Village creates the perfect backdrop that complements the SAGO festival, provides an authentic representation of Sarawak’s diverse cultures, and offers an immersive cultural and gastronomic experience for guests.

“We are ready to receive tourists, especially. This is good economy, not only for Kuching, but for the Sarawak Cultural Village as well and the places nearby,” said Nancy.

The President of Sarawak Gastronomy Association, Datu Edwin Abit, added that the Nyamai festival is scheduled to coincide with the Malaysia Day celebrations and exists to commemorate unity among different ethnicities.

Edwin added that the festival targets 200 vendors across four pavilions, namely the Mini Agro Pavilion, Gastronomy Pavilion, Exhibitions Pavilion, and Creative Arts Pavilion.

“Each pavilion will be showcasing 50 vendors. The festival will embrace the pavilion concept of ‘From Farm to Table’, emphasising the journey of local produce from farm to plate,” said Edwin, adding that this concept promotes sustainability on top of supporting the local farmers.

In addition, there will be culinary challenges where chefs from various backgrounds will showcase their culinary skills and creativity.

There will also be a mega gastronomy buffet featuring an array of delectable dishes representing the best of Malaysian cuisine.

The Nyamai Sarawak Gastronomy Festival 2024, Malaysia day Edition offers free entry to the public, inviting everyone to come and enjoy the festivities without any admission fee.
