Nur Balqis Nessa crowned winner of Mid-Autumn Festival Kids Cheongsam Competition

KUCHING, Sept 30: Nur Balqis Nessa emerged as the champion of the Mid-Autumn Festival Kids Cheongsam Competition.

Nur Qairiesya Amanley secured the first runner-up position, while Kaylyn Wong Yan Lin claimed the second runner-up spot.

In the ‘Best Costume’ category, Lim Yan Er stood out with the finest attire. Nur Balqis Nessa was also honored with the title of ‘Best Posture’ in the competition.


Other participants who received consolation prizes in the competition included Asyha Dhamia, Qairatul Nessa, and Winnie Chin.

The Cheongsam Competition featured a total of 20 contestants, ranging from six to 12-years-old, representing various ethnic backgrounds.

Participants showcased their elegance through a simple catwalk and introduced themselves briefly to an audience that included their parents.

The competition was organized by the Kuching Surimas Fans of Art, Dance, and Music Association in collaboration with the Plaza Merdeka Mall Mid-Autumn Festival.

Its aim was to promote the traditions, culture, and artistic activities of the Mid-Autumn Festival, in partnership with the Kuching Association of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (Katsn), which runs from Sept 22 to Oct 1.

The festival included a range of events such as the Gifted Art Exhibition, performances, and various competitions including lantern-making, mooncake making, singing, coloring, and the Cheongsam competition. — DayakDaily
