KUCHING, Aug 2: Activist Datuk Seri Ang Lai Soon is urging countries which have substantial amounts of national reserves to use them to help obtain Covid-19 vaccines so that their citizens will not end up at the end of the global queue for vaccines.

Ang who is also founder of St John Ambulance Sarawak believed those countries should utilise their surplus funds to obtain the vaccines to save the lives of their citizens and rebuild the country’s economy.

“I strongly appeal to all lawmakers to consider this proposal to save the lives of their citizens and eventually the economy of each of their respective countries.

“All other nations that have substantial national reserves must seriously put aside all differences and consider making this unprecedented landmark decision to save their people and their economies.

“This is the time when the national reserves of any country can help. The last resort. The lifeline. This is a non-political matter that must be decided by the highest legislative body of any country immediately,” he asserted in a statement.

Ang stressed that the decision is important to save lives and define the future of a country so that the people will be able to enjoy greater freedom and movements in the future. — DayakDaily
