SKAS, or Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak, is a financial assistance programme aimed at low-income groups. Recipients receive digital vouchers through the SPay Global e-wallet to purchase essential food items.

According to the Sarawak government’s website, recipients of SKAS are automatically selected based on the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 4, 2024 list.

Sarawakians with a “K” identification card, residing in Sarawak, and meeting the eligibility criteria are automatically listed as beneficiaries.

However, eligible recipients are required to install SPay Global app and ensure the account is active to receive the assistance.

Recipients should also update their SPay Global e-wallet and acknowledge the request for SKAS assistance disbursement claim.

The assistance will be credited to their SPay Global accounts by the first quarter of 2025.

Additionally, those who meet the criteria but are not listed as recipients can submit appeals online from Feb 1 to March 31, 2025. Results of the appeals will be announced on June 1, 2025.

The initiative, as part of Sarawak Budget 2025, provides financial assistance with amounts ranging from RM250 to RM800 based on income and household criteria.

Households with income of RM5,000 and below will receive RM800; senior citizens without partners and children, with an income of RM5,000 and below, will receive RM400; while single individuals with income of RM2,500 and below will receive RM250.

Based on the STR recipient list, 886,288 individuals qualify for the aid, comprising 410,529 households, 361,295 single individuals, and 114,464 senior citizens without spouses or children. ā€” DayakDaily
