KUCHING, Sept 25: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has several names in mind for the Jepak candidacy.
According to Bernama, PBB secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the final decision will be made by the party’s top leadership.
“We have several potential candidates suitable to be chosen by the party top leadership…what is certain is that the candidate will be from PBB as the seat belongs to the party,” Bernama quoted Nanta at the handing over of the Operation Theatre Complex, Intensive Care Unit and additional wards at Kuala Lumpur Hospital today.
The Election Commission (EC) deputy chairman Dr Azmi Sharom today announced that the Jepak by-election will fall on Nov 4, with the nomination date set on Oct 21.
The Jepak seat was vacated following the death of its incumbent, Datuk Talib Zulpilip, at Normah Medical Specialist Centre on Sept 15 due to kidney complications.
Talib was also Sarawak’s former Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman). He served as an assemblyman for the Jepak constituency from 1996 until his passing on Sept 15, 2023. — DayakDaily
