No change at top as Abdul Karim, Gerald retain Saberkas posts

KUCHING, Aug 10: The Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) will retain its top two leaders for the 2026-2029 term, with Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu returned unopposed as president and deputy president.

The results were announced during the 18th Triennial General Assembly (TGM) of Saberkas Sarawak in Sibu on Sunday (Aug 9).

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Daro assemblyman Dr Safiee Ahmad was also retained as Saberkas secretary-general for the 2026-2029 term.

Meanwhile, Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan emerged as the top vote-getter for the vice-president posts with 220 votes.

He was followed by Sophie Shariee with 171 votes, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus with 135 and Pelawan assemblyman Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee with 132.

Other candidates were Abdul Adzim Adzmi Abdul Rahman with 130 votes, Telang Usan assemblyman Dato Dennis Ngau with 127, Serembu assemblyman Dato Miro Simuh with 72, Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang with 67 and Warziedea Ahmad with 46.

For the Saberkas committee, Surai Anthony Abell topped the polls with 242 votes, followed by Awangku Bahar Pengiran Jini and Awang Nashfarini Awg Sarbini, who each secured 241 votes.

Mohd Faizal Jamiludin received 239 votes, followed by Mohammad Naieem Samsudin with 232, Douglas Chupong Jefferson Jamit with 230, Muhamad Tarmizi Karnain Abdah and Steve Lius with 227 votes each, Marcion John with 224 and Julianne Philip Attan with 223.

Senator Dato Ahmad Dato Sri Ibrahim and Dr Cheong Ya Liang also secured seats on the committee with 219 and 213 votes respectively. — DayakDaily
