Nimble cat burglar apprehended by RC Pujut, police

The suspect was finally arrested despite managing to climb over five fences of houses within the area to evade capture.

MIRI, August 13: A cat burglar scaled fences of at least five houses near RPR Pujut 8 on Sunday afternoon in a bid to evade capture but could not escape the persistence of members of Residents Committee Pujut (RC Pujut) and the police.

The suspect in his 20’s was initially spotted climbing over the fence of a newly built but unoccupied house at the area around 12.30pm on Sunday. Alert members of the public immediately contacted RC Pujut and the police for assistance.

However, upon realising his cover was exposed, the burglar then climbed over fences of five houses to escape.

Fortunately, swift action taken by RC Pujut members with the help of an off duty cop who happened to live nearby resulted in the capture of the suspect.

According to sources, upon reaching the scene, members of RC Pujut immediately cut off every access point within the housing area in order to prevent the suspect escaping. Their efforts were fruitful as they successfully arrested the suspect. — DayakDaily
