MIRI, August 13: Police on Saturday afternoon arrested a man in his late 20’s after he ran amok the day before at a longhouse in Sungai Lembong, Suai Niah.

According to sources, the suspect had acted out after being scolded by his father for bringing his girlfriend inside the family’s orchard on Friday morning (August 10).

It was believed that the father saw the couple sitting alone inside the orchard, prompting him (the father) to reprimand the duo.

Unsatisfied over the matter, later on that night (Friday) around 8pm, the suspect suddenly shouted outside of the longhouse.

It was believed that the suspect who was seen holding a baseball bat, also threw rocks onto the longhouse’s roof, shocking the longhouse residents.

During the incident, the suspect also uttered offensive words and issued challenges to dare anyone to fight him.

The suspect’s father later lodged a police report. — DayakDaily
