KUCHING, Nov 20: Newcomer Chiew Choon Man has won P219 Miri for Pakatan Harapan (PH) after garnering a 6,159 majority against Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Chiew managed to get 39,549 votes to defeat GPS’s Jeffery Phang (33,390) and PSB’s Lawrance Lai (5,209).
The 31-year old lawyer was named among the 12 faces fielded by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after dropping Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng, who was a two-term Miri MP from 2013 to 2022.
The voter turnout in Miri stands at 54.56 per cent. — DayakDaily
