KUCHING, July 24: The newly built Tempat Transit Gelandangan (TTG) or Transit Centre for the Homeless in Jalan Sibiyu, Bintulu, is now fully completed and is expected to begin operations in Oct 2025.
State Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, said the facility replaces the old, dilapidated building that was beyond repair, making it the fourth such centre in Sarawak after Kuching, Sibu, and Miri.
“Instead of repairing the old building, it was better to build a new one. The old structure was demolished, and this new one was built. Now, we can see that the building is beautiful,” she told reporters after inspecting the TTG facility in Bintulu yesterday (July 23), as reported by TVS.
She added that the design and construction were well executed by architects from Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), with the final stages now focused on technical preparations before it welcomes its first residents.
“Insya-Allah, we will proceed with the final technical works and hope it will be fully operational by this October, concurrently with the TTG in Miri,” she said. — DayakDaily
