LAWAS, July 2: A new project called ‘Prospeck’ to centralise all agriculture and livestock activities in one area will be implemented in Lawas with an allocation of RM300,000.
Deputy Minister of Transport Dato Henry Sum Agong informed that the site for this project had been identified, and the relevant parties will also conduct an advance study on its implementation.
“The hike in goods such as cooking oil, chicken, chicken eggs and meat in the market is inevitable due to various factors.
“As such, it is timely for Lawas Area Farmers Organisation (PPK) to focus on optimising agriculture production to meet the needs of the community,” he said.
Henry highlighted this during a PPK dinner at a restaurant here on Thursday (June 30), as reported by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
The Lawas MP emphasised that farmers should put in more effort to increase agriculture and livestock production to help reduce the burden from rising prices of goods in the market.
“The government has channelled various assistance in the forms of subsidies for the people, but we know that it is not sufficient because the prices of goods and materials have increased due to unavoidable factors,” he added.
At the function, Henry also announced a grant of RM10,000 for PPK Lawas. — DayakDaily
