New plantation cluster in Subis, plywood factory cluster in Bintulu after workers test positive for Covid-19

KUCHING, Aug 3: Some 24 workers at an oil palm plantation in Subis and 17 workers of a plywood factory in Bintulu have tested positive for Covid-19 thus sparking two new Covid-19 clusters known as the Mega Suai Cluster and Jalan Kemena Industry Estate 38 Cluster respectively.

According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the Mega Suai Cluster has so far seen a total of 351 individuals swabbed for Covid-19, out of which 24 have tested positive including the index case while 327 are awaiting Covid-19 swab test results.


As for the Jalan Kemena Industry Estate 38 Cluster in Bintulu, a total of 85 individuals have been tested, out of which 17 have been confirmed positive including the index case while the rest are awaiting swab test results.

SDMC added the oil palm plantation in Subis and the plywood factory in Bintulu have been placed under lockdown while the affected Covid-19 patients were admitted to various health facilities in Miri and Bintulu for treatment.

In the meantime, the third new Covid-19 cluster identified in Sarawak today was the Pasar Stutong 2 Cluster in Kuching.

On the other hand, the Jalan Tasik Biru By-Pass Cluster in Bau was declared as ended.

With this, there are still 84 active clusters in Sarawak out of which eight clusters registered 81 new cases today. — DayakDaily
