Lawyer pleads not guilty to charge of committing CBT involving RM360,000

KUCHING, Aug 3: A lawyer claimed trial to a charge of criminal breach of trust involving RM360,000.

Zamrin Mohd Hapni Joblie, 48, pleaded not guilty to the charge framed under Section 409 of Penal Code that was read out to him before Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga.


The judge fixed September 9 for pre-trial case management and allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM6,000 and one local surety.

The accused was charged with committing criminal breach of trust in respect of a payment that was entrusted to him as a lawyer to manage the sale and purchase of a land in Muara Tebas Land District, at a law firm located in Bormill Estate Commercial Centre, in June 2019.

Section 409 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term of between two years and twenty years and with whipping and liable to fine, upon conviction. — DayakDaily
