KUCHING, Feb 22: The new Community Rehabilitation Center (PDK) in Daro, equipped with more comfortable and essential infrastructure, is set to replace the outdated facility, offering a safer and more inclusive environment for the special needs groups in the district.
The RM.1.114 million project by Ahza General Work is expected to be fully completed by April 15, 2025.
The inauguration ceremony of the center was officiated today by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, marking the government’s commitment to empowering recovery and welfare programmes for the special needs community.
Also present were the Speaker of the Sarawak State Assembly Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Asfia Awang Nasar, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Daro State Assemblyman Safiee Ahmad, and Minister of Women, Children, and Community Wellbeing, Sarawak, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.
The ceremony was further enhanced with the signing of a commemorative plaque to mark the new building’s inauguration.

PDK Daro will play an important role in providing rehabilitation and support services to people with disabilities (OKU) in the district.
With the new building, the PDK programme can be implemented more effectively, in addition to raising public awareness about the importance of rehabilitation and care for individuals with disabilities.
This building includes activity spaces, offices, and other supporting facilities.
The development of the new PDK Daro building is part of the effort to replace the old building, which no longer meets the operational needs and welfare of the special needs groups due to the lack of space, insufficient facilities, and dilapidated physical conditions.
The government hopes that the development of the PDK Daro will serve as a catalyst for efforts to enhance community welfare and create a more holistic ecosystem for the well-being of the residents in the Daro district. – DayakDaily
