KUCHING, July 14: Is a new Covid-19 cluster forming at Sentosa Hospital?

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, there were 26 Covid-19 cases linked to Sentosa Hospital following the detection of a second outbreak onsite.

The first outbreak occurred in July last year.

ā€œHospital Sentosa (26) ā€“ wondering (Health Ministry) KKM going to declare a cluster in the interest of Public Health emergency. Second major outbreak in this institution.

ā€œWe do not want to have a short ā€˜freedomā€™ of Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan”,ā€ he said in a Facebook post last night.

Dr Sim who is also the Minister for Local Government and Housing said he has informed KKM to relook at its strategies to fight Covid-19 and focus on high risk areas in Kuching, with specific targeted approaches for screening and to implement lockdowns if needed.

He was made to understand that there were 10 Covid-19 cases detected in Kampung Tabuan Tengah which necessitated the village to be placed under lockdown to contain the spread of the virus.

Other locations in Kuching which have reported more than three Covid-19 cases include Kg Tabuan Lot, Kg Seratu, Kg Jawa, Kg Goebilt, Kg Bintawa Hilir, TT3 Commercial Centre and Kg Astana. ā€” DayakDaily
