KUCHING, June 28: Plans are underway to build several community centres in the Tasik Biru area to stimulate the local community’s socioeconomic development.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep revealed that the State government has approved significant allocations to support the development of these infrastructure projects.

Among them are the Jagoi Community Centre, with an allocation of RM5 million, the Bratak Community Centre, with RM3 million, and the Skiat Baru and Skiat Lama Community Centres, as well as the Kampung Tasik Biru Community Centre, each receiving RM2 million.

“Although no official applications were submitted previously, I saw an urgent need for these community centres to be built for the long-term benefit of residents,” said Henry, who is also the Sarawak Transport Minister.

He said this during a community service programme on Friday (June 27), which also included a session with the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Youth.

He emphasised that these centres will function as hubs for community development, supporting initiatives in entrepreneurship, education, cultural activities, and sports, ultimately fostering stronger local unity and identity. — DayakDaily
