KUCHING, Feb 1: The ‘Borneo Park Miri’ app, a new smart city parking payment initiative, is now available for use in all Miri City Council (MCC) carpark zones.

According to a press release issued by MCC, the new app, which includes new features and an improved manual, was developed collaboratively by MCC and its parking control contractor, Borneo Parking Systems, after taking into account feedback from end users.

MCC stated that the new app will eventually replace the current parking payment app, ‘SmartParking Borneo’.

“Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, who officially launched the ‘Borneo Park Miri’ app today, states that the new app is part of MCC’s ongoing initiative to introduce ‘Smart City’ solutions aimed at improving the daily life-routines of residents and visitors, and, in this case, to ease and provide convenience to car owners..

“Yii describes the new app as another significant step toward achieving the ‘Miri Smart City Concept’, and he is confident that it will significantly enhance everyone’s parking experience.

“MCC was the first in Sarawak to introduce an online parking app, and it will continue to launch new initiatives as they become viable in the future,” MCC said.

Furthermore, according to the Council, the new app is designed to make parking payments in the city more convenient and user-friendly for drivers.

“The app features a new sleek interface, making it easy for users to pay for parking on spots and experience a faster and more convenient reload process.

“Aside from the aforementioned features, the new app also provides several seasonal parking options, allowing drivers to pay for a set period of time in advance, saving them the hassle of constantly paying for parking on a daily basis,” it added.

MCC went on to say that since the launch of the current ‘SmartParking Borneo’ app, feedback indicates that it has gained widespread acceptance and favour among drivers who prefer to pay parking fees online.

The parking payment app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

All drivers are reminded to use all available credits in the previous ‘SmartParking Borneo’ app before migrating to the new ‘Borneo Park Miri’ app.
