KUCHING, Oct 25: ‘Wing of Change — The Wanita PBB Journey’ is not a biography, but a book of memories, inspiration and references to the women in Sarawak.

Book editorial committee head Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri revealed this coffee table book tells the stories of how women were involved in politics even before the formation of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

“Most of the women were not directly involved in politics because they were housewives, so most of their struggles were behind the scenes.

“That is why we have compiled their stories and researched them in hopes of telling the public about their journeys,” she told reporters after the PBB Southern Zone Convention at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

The coffee table book titled ‘Wing Of Change’ by Sarawak PBB Women.

The 180-page publication which is inspired by former PBB Women chief Tan Sri Empiang Jabu starts off with the history of ‘Kaum Ibu’ which was politically involved in anti-cession activities in 1946.

It also includes an interview with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on present and future expectations of women in state leadership roles.

Nancy, who is also Sarawak PBB Women vice-chief said the colourful book by PBB Women is now available in the market at RM50 only for the first batch, which is a 50 per cent discount off full price.

“The following orders will be sold at full price which is RM100.

“There is also the Malay version (‘Sayap Perjuangan—Perjalan Wanita PBB’) but it is still being processed, so we are selling it by orders only,” she said. — DayakDaily
