Netherlands offers strategic support to Sarawak in water management, tech devt

KUCHING, Dec 4: The Dutch government has offered its support and assistance to the Sarawak government in addressing water management issues and advancing water technology.

Dutch Ambassador to Malaysia His Excellency Jacques Louis Warner highlighted that the support encompasses various areas, including flood prevention and mitigation, coastal erosion, and the need for clean water for drinking and irrigation.

“We are eager to return with several Dutch companies in this sector to explore what we can do to implement some of these plans,” he remarked in a news report by the Information Department Sarawak.

He made these comments after a courtesy visit to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

Jacques further emphasised that, beyond discussing water management and technology, he is exploring potential areas where the Netherlands can be a strategic partner in supporting Sarawak’s efforts toward a progressive future.

“I am truly impressed with the vision and ideas of the Sarawak Premier in developing this region in line with the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS 2030),” he added.
