KUCHING, Feb 16: The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) in the Prime Minister’s Department have been called on to assist 20 families affected by floods in Long Tanyit in Linau, Belaga.
Ulu Rajang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) branch chief Abun Sui Anyit made this call in a statement today after receiving a message about the floods that hit the village on Feb 13.
“The village head Encik Mayau of Sungai Tanyit sent pictures and videos showing the flood affecting their farm houses and crops belonging to about 20 families,” he said.
‘We hoped the authorities would gather this information on all the damages brought about by the floods and provide the appropriate assistance.
Abun Sui described Long Tanyit as the most inland Penan settlement, which takes 10 hours to reach by road from Miri.
“Despite there being no casualties, PKR Hulu Rajang Branch will also help as soon as possible and hope that NADMA can also help them accordingly,” he said. — DayakDaily
