National Covid-19 update – 958 new cases, five new clusters evolve

KUCHING, Nov 20: Ministry of Health (MOH) disclosed a total of 958 new positive Covid-19 cases were recorded in the country today, with five new clusters identified in five states.

According to the ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, out of the total number of new cases recorded, five were imported cases, while the rest are local transmissions.

ā€œThree states recorded the highest number of cases today, namely Sabah with 512 cases, Selangor (153), and Negeri Sembilan (153), followed by Kuala Lumpur (46), Pulau Pinang (25), Perak (24), Kedah (19), Johor (nine), Kelantan (seven), Terengganu (four), Melaka (two), Sarawak (two), Labuan (one) and Putrajaya (one), while Perlis and Pahang recorded zero new cases.

ā€œThe five new clusters identified today are namely the Kasir cluster in Sabah with eight positive cases, Sri Jujur cluster in Selangor with 17 positive cases, OAD cluster in Negeri Sembilan (one), cluster Enggor in Perak (eight), and cluster Makmur in Johor (five). This brings the total cumulative cases of positive Covid-19 in the country to 52, 638 cases,ā€ he said in the daily press conference on Covid-19 development in the country today.

On the same note, Dr. Noor Hisham also revealed a total of 956 cases of positive Covid-19 has recovered in the country as of today.
“This brings the total number of recovered and discharged involving Covid-19 to 39,0888 (74.3 per cent of total cases),” he added.

At the same time, Dr Noor Hisham noted, a total of 13,221 cases (25.1 per cent) are still active in the country, with 110 cases being treated in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU), and 42 of them are under respiratory assistance.

ā€œHowever, three fatalities were also reported in Sabah today involving foreigners, which brings the total number of deaths in the country due to Covid-19 to 329 cases or 0.6 percent),ā€ he added. ā€“DayakDaily.
