KUCHING, May 5: Malaysia recorded 30 new Covid-19 positive cases and one death today.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the overall total of confirmed cases to 6,383 while the total death toll now stands at 106.
“All of the 30 cases were local transmissions, none imported,” Dr Noor Hisham said at the ministry’s daily Covid-19 briefing in Putrajaya which was carried live by major media outlets.
As for the latest death, the victim is a 47-year-old Malaysian man.
“He was admitted to a private hospital on April 15. The patient was subsequently transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital on April 16 after testing positive for Covid-19 and he was pronounced dead at 2.10am today,” Dr Noor Hisham disclosed.
Meanwhile, he added that 83 Covid-19 patients were discharged over the last 24 hours, raising the total of recovered patients to 4,567.
“Malaysia’s recovery rate is now at 71.55 per cent. As of today, 1,710 active cases are still being treated at health facilities nationwide. A total of 24 patients are being treated at Intensive Care Units (ICUs), with eight of them requiring ventilators.” — DayakDaily
