KUCHING, Jan 15: The management of the Nanyang Wushu Federation of Sarawak today announced the cancellation its Chinese New Year 2021 Dragon and Lion Dance, as well as the Drum Troupes performance to all patrons, supporters and members of the public in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Federation instructor-in-chief, Prof Datuk Seri Dr Song Swee Hee, in a statement today, these performances will not be performed at their premises as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.
He noted the Federation has been celebrating the Chinese New Year Festive season since its establishment in 1974.
“It is painful to miss this traditional custom of the Chinese New Year house-to-house visits, but the prevention on the spread of Covid-19 will enable us to visit you all in the coming years,” he explained.
On the same note, Song also apologised on behalf of the Federation, for any inconvenience caused and wishing all patrons, supporters and members of the public, “A Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year”.
