Najib to meet BN MPs tomorrow in Putrajaya

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak

KUCHING, April 15: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is meeting all the coalition’s Members of Parliament tomorrow at 9am at Sri Perdana, Putrajaya.

This was disclosed by a Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) insider who told DayakDaily that the party’s identified candidates which included three incumbents would be traveling to Putrajaya to meet Najib.

PDP’s three incumbents are Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (Bintulu), Anthony Nogeh Gumbek (Mas Gading) and Anyi Ngau (Baram).

As for the purpose of the meeting, the party insider said they had no knowledge and would not be able to predict what would transpire from the meeting.

However, they added, the PM wanted to thank all the MPs for their services and to not take it negatively if they were not fielded in the 14th general election (GE14).

As the invitation is only for the incumbent BN parliamentarians, it is speculated that the purpose of the meeting is also to remind those not renominated to defend the seats to continue to support BN.

This perhaps would be the last meeting Najib has with the BN incumbents before he makes the next big announcement which is BN’s GE14 candidate list.

BN Sarawak is expected to have about 12 new faces which represents a significant 39 per cent of the total 31 parliamentary seats to be contested.

These new faces included at least three from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB); six from Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) and its splinter party United People’s Party (UPP); two from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and one from PDP. — DayakDaily
