KUCHING, Oct 20: The MySejahtera team has assured users that no personal data was leaked following a slew of spam messages received by some users of the app through text messages or email.
According to various online media reports, MySejahtera said its check-in QR registration feature was misused by some “malicious scripts” to send one-time-password (OTP) to random phone numbers.
Thereafter, it received numerous complaints through the MySejahtera app helpdesk and social media platforms on unsolicited OTP messages.
For instance, one user had received a prank email from MySejahtera saying that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
In response, the MySejahtera team in a statement said it has blocked MySejahtera’s application programming interface (API) endpoints to rectify the issue and will conduct a security enhancement later tonight.
The team also apologised for any inconvenience caused. — DayakDaily
