MIRI, Jan 11: The ‘MyLesen’ pilot project for schools in Senadin constituency will be initiated this month, to help unlicensed students to get their motorcycle licences legally at a lower price.
The targeted schools for the pilot project are SMK Merbau, SMK Pujut, SMK Baru, SMK Lopeng Tengah, SMK Lutong, SM Riam and SMK Pujut.
In disclosing this earlier this morning , Minister of Transport Sarawak-cum-Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said, forms to obtain the B2 class licence will be distributed by Miri District Education Office to the targeted schools in Senadin.
Also present was Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Norizan Jili.
“And we will spread the pilot programme to other areas, including villages if it is carried out successfully in Senadin constituency,” Lee disclosed.
Via this programme, students only have to pay RM250 for a B2 class licence to ride a motorcycle under 250cc, instead of the usual RM700.
The programme is open to students aged 16 (Form Four) to 19 (Form Six ).
A total of 1,000 B2 class licences have been set aside by JPJ for this pilot project.
Lee said they would apply for more B2 class licences if the response is overwhelming. — DayakDaily
