Muslim youths must keep abreast with technology advancement to progress

MIRI, Aug 13: Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has reminded Muslim youths the importance of keeping abreast with technology trend so they are not left behind in the nation’s development.

“We must not remiss but keep moving forward in mastering knowledge and latest technology trends in order to transform the state.


“The young Muslim generation in Sarawak must strive to achieve more progress in the future,” the chief minister said at the “Majlis Raya Korban” organised by the Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Melayu Miri, Masjid Darul Ehsan and Miri Islamic associations here, today.

He cited an example of Muslim civilisation in the Middle Ages, where the Islamic kingdoms were regarded as the intellectual centre of the world.

“Medieval Muslims had made invaluable contributions to the study of mathematics among others, hence we must emulate their spirits and discard the remissness attitude,” he said.

He added that the state government, throughout various initiatives and programmes, is encouraging the people to participate with the changes.

“We have been stressing on precision agriculture in our farming sector, this is one of the approach that we want to implement to help boost our industry,” he said.

Abang Johari also presented sacrificial meat to 10 villages and 10 Muslim associations. — DayakDaily
