Murdered businessman’s case: 2 charged with murder, 3 released on bond

KUCHING, Jan 28: Two men were today charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with murdering a 37-year-old businessman between Jan 12 and Jan 15 this year.

Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar fixed Feb 27, 2019, for further mention of the case to tender expert reports.

Teng Jing Biau, 37, from Bintulu and Tiong Kim Kai from Miri were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.

They allegedly killed the businessman between Jan 12, at about 10.30pm, and January 15, at about 9am, at an unnumbered house at Lorong Dusun, off Jalan Ong Tiang Swee.

Police have so far arrested 6 suspects, including Teng and Tiong. A female suspect was released on Jan 21, while the remaining 3 suspects were released with court bond of RM10,000 today.

Teng was represented by Counsel Roger Chin and Michael Kong, while Tiong was represented by Counsel Voon Lee Shan.— DayakDaily
