KUCHING, Jan 12: A woman and her boyfriend who allegedly killed a six-year-old girl will be remanded for 7 more days until Jan 19.
The 34-year-old woman who is the mother of the child and 35-year-old male suspect were arrested by the police on Jan 4 and were initially remanded for 7 days. The first remand order expired today and they were brought before the Magistrate’s Court to apply for further remand.
On Jan 4, the male suspect was arrested by police at an auto parts store at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho at about 3pm.
During interrogation, the suspect revealed to the police that he had beaten the deceased and disposed of her body in bushes at Kampung Kranji. The suspect then led the police to the location of the body where the remains were recovered.
The female suspect was brought to the scene by the police and she confirmed the deceased was her daughter by the clothing items and a doll.
The girl’s body was then brought to Sarawak General Hospital’s Forensics Unit for a post-mortem.
The girl was believed to have been killed on December 17, 2022.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries a death sentence upon conviction. — DayakDaily
