KUCHING, April 9: Mukah turned into the red zone of Covid-19 after 53 new positive cases were recorded in the district in the last 14 days.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, the addition of Mukah into a red zone status brings the total number of districts as red zone status to 13 districts.
He said Subis also reverted to orange zone from the yellow zone status today, with a total of 28 new infection cases reported in the previous two weeks, bringing the total number of districts in the orange zone to five districts.
He added a total of 17 districts remain as yellow zones while five other districts stay in their green status.
As of today, the 13 districts with the red zone status are namely Mukah, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Beluru, Samarahan, Serian, Julau, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu, while five other districts namely Subis, Seratok, Sebauh, Marudi and Kanowit are in the orange zone status.
A total of 17 districts namely Dalat, Daro, Asajaya, Lawas, Bukit Mabong, Belaga, Betong, Lubok Antu, Tatau, Tanjung Manis, Song, Matu, Pakan, Tebedu, Bau, Selangau and Limbang, are in the yellow zone status, and five districts namely Telang Usan, Lundu, Pusa, Simunjan and Kabong continue with their green status.
On the same note, Uggah disclosed the Sarawak Health Department has declared one new cluster in Meradong, identified as Sungai Gemuan cluster.
He said a total of 260 individuals had been screened, with 26 of them found positive for Covid-19 and 122 individuals still pending test results, while 99 others were negative.
As of today, he noted, a total of 45 clusters still remain active, with 15 clusters recorded new cases while 30 other clusters reported zero new cases. — DayakDaily
