KUCHING, Aug 26: Affin Bank Group has expanded its footprint in East Malaysia with the launch of its Hikmah Exchange Branch, Regional Office, and Corporate Office in Kuching today, introducing Malaysia’s first robotic self-service safe deposit locker system, a move that sets a new benchmark in financial innovation and security.

The grand opening, officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, marked a key milestone under the Group’s Affin Axelerate 2028 Strategy (AX28).

The Premier described the expansion as a reflection of Affin’s commitment to supporting Sarawak’s economic growth, advancing financial inclusivity, and fostering long-term prosperity across the region.

“Today, Kuching, Sarawak, becomes home to Affin’s first Regional and Corporate Office in Malaysia. This new office brings expertise, authority, and financial solutions closer to our businesses, SMEs (small and medium enterprises), and communities.

“It also provides direct access to advisory, investment, and corporate banking services, all under one roof: Affin Bank, Affin Islamic, and Affin Hwang Investment Bank,” Abang Johari said in his speech.

He went on to say that the location at Hikmah Exchange makes the milestone even more significant, as it is Sarawak’s first smart building, a 23-storey landmark that brings together government agencies, financial institutions, and multinational companies.

“Sarawak has long been a hub for collaboration. With Affin’s arrival, it is now emerging as a hub for financial growth.

“Businesses here no longer need to look elsewhere, as the expertise is now right here in Kuching,” he added.

Located at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre, Sarawak’s first smart building, the new hub brings together retail banking, corporate services, and investment advisory under one roof.

Customers will gain access to modern branch services, the Affin Invikta premium lounge, multipurpose halls, and dedicated corporate engagement spaces, all designed for today’s digitally connected and fast-growing economy.

Meanwhile, Affin Bank president and Group chief executive officer (PGCEO), Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah, said the new building is designed to provide a comprehensive one-stop banking experience while bringing together key institutions and businesses under one roof.

“With a 1,700-seat event centre, this smart facility will not only serve as a financial hub, but also position Kuching as a prime destination for conferences and major events, thereby drawing trade and investment into the region,” he said.

Coinciding with the launch, Affin introduced the Affin Borneo Credit Card, a lifestyle-driven card offering flexible solutions, attractive rewards, and regional privileges for Sarawak and Sabah customers, as well as the Affin Automated Safe Deposit Locker (ASDL), Malaysia’s first robotic self-service locker system, and the first of its kind in East Malaysia, launched at the Affin Northbank Branch in Kuching, to set a new benchmark in security and convenience. — DayakDaily
