KUCHING, March 10: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) welcome parties who are interested to open a Ramadan bazaar to apply for permission.

MPP deputy chairman Dato Ahmad Ibrahim said there is still three weeks for discussion.

“But they are to identify the location, where it has to be somewhere conducive as well as in an environment that we can control and manage.

“We won’t charge the organising licence fee because it is free from the State government,” he said during a press conference at MPP headquarters here, today.

Ahmad said this year, MPP will open up six Ramadan bazaars in areas under its jurisdiction starting April 3.

He also said three of the bazaars, namely in Sentosa Square, Taman Malihah car park, and Lee Ling Commercial Centre carpark in Matang, will be operated by the local community, while the three in Emart Batu Kawah parking area, Emart Matang parking area and Price Commercial Centre at 7th Mile respective will be operated by private sector.

“For the moment, the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set for the Ramadan bazaars still stands as of now.

“But there may be a loosening of it and that is yet to be announced by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) or the federal government and we will oblige with the SOP set as we move forward,” he added. — DayakDaily
