KOTA SAMARAHAN, April 6: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) will look into the alleged damaged road caused by passing heavy vehicles, which is affecting the residents at Lorong 10 of Taman Bukit Berangin Ria.
MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos noted that a group of residents had expressed their grievances over the implementation of an ongoing government project in the area.
“I will get the MPKS engineers to go and check (the issue) and do the necessary.
“We will recheck and see what can be done,” he told DayakDaily today.
Minos was responding to a group of residents’ complaints, and they called on MPKS to address the problem they were facing in the area.
The group’s representative, Mr Ringo, 60, earlier told DayakDaily that the project involves the construction of Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT), which commenced last year and is expected to be completed by February 2026.
He said the Lorong 10 residents were upset because there were no prior discussions or notifications made to them about the heavy vehicles using the residence road to get to the project site every day.
“Following the project construction, passing heavy vehicles have damaged the road. On sunny days, the road will become dusty. On rainy days, the road will become muddy.
“Previously, the drains by the roadside were usually kept clean, but now they are filled with dirt and rocks.
“Some of the houses along the road are also cracking because of the juddering from heavy lorries. Overall, this issue affects our housing area,” he explained.
He also said the group of residents previously staged several protests and blocked the lorries from entering the road, which prompted the contractor to promise a negotiation between both parties in the near future. However, he said there has been no update so far.
Mr Ringo also pointed out that the group wishes to suggest to the MPKS that heavy vehicles be allowed to use the empty piece of land across the housing area instead of Lorong 10 to get to the project site.
“We hope that MPKS will call a meeting with the residents so that we can sit down and discuss finding a solution to the problem affecting us,” he added.
