MPKS intensifies crackdown on illegal structures, business operations in Kota Samarahan

KUCHING, April 2: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has ramped up enforcement operations to tackle unlicensed structures and businesses across Kota Samarahan area, reinforcing efforts to maintain a safe and orderly urban environment.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, the operations carried out by the MPKS Enforcement Division, focused on abandoned tents, illegal signboards, and roadside stalls set up without proper approval.

Key areas involved in the crackdown include Aiman 2 Commercial, Taman Berlian, Taman Samarindah, Bandar Riyal Commercial, and stretches along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway.

MPKS officials emphasised that the operations are designed not only to enforce regulations but also to safeguard public safety, particularly by removing structures that pose risks to road users.

The council also stressed that these enforcement operations will continue periodically to maintain optimal levels of compliance.

Business operators and members of the public are urged to obtain official approval from MPKS before setting up any structures or conducting commercial activities.
