KUCHING, Dec 14: Kota Samaharan Municipal Council (MPKS) recently held a two-day brainstorming session to gather inputs on how to bring about betterment and improvement to Samarahan for the year 2021, and beyond.

According to its chairman Datuk Peter Minos, the session was joined by various government agencies and non-governmental organisations such as the Resident Office, District Office, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), Royal Malaysia Police and District Health Office among others.

“Two matters are being focused on, namely the concept of liveable healthy city and tourism based on culture and food. Unimas has a lot of ideas and inputs on these, and MPKS seeks to tap on them,” he said in a statement today.

Minos also noted, Kota Samarahan has almost everything but it lacks a cultural centre and recreational park, where the local residents can go for their rest and recreation activities during the weekend, like in other towns and cities.

He said MPKS will want to set up a park with jungle tracks, flower garden, badminton and basketball courts, futsal court, ping pong courts, football fields and a cultural stage together with a food court that caters for local foods and drinks.

“MPKS will want this centre to be set up as the local residents clamour for it and MPKS empathises with them,” he added. — DayakDaily
