MoU to cement Miri City-Guangning, China relations on Aug 27

KUCHING, Aug 8: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Miri City and a delegation from Guangning County, China, is set to be signed on Aug 27.

According to a TVS news report, Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, stated that this partnership is significant as it highlights the friendly relations between Miri City and Guangning County, built on mutual respect and shared benefits.

He revealed the MoU will be signed in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.

“The cooperation will encompass areas such as education, culture, tourism, and trade,” he was quoted as saying.

Yii made these remarks at a press conference at Miri City Council Building in Miri yesterday (Aug 7).

TVS also reported that the relationship between Miri and Guangning was initiated by the Guangning Association of Miri on Oct 29, 2012.

The signing ceremony is also expected to be witnessed by the Consul General of China in Kuching, Xing Weiping.

Additionally, Yii encouraged residents of Guangning to apply for the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme which aims to attract investment and talent to the country. — DayakDaily
