Motorcyclist perishes following Sibu accident, driver arrested

SIBU, Feb 17: A motorcyclist succumbed to serious head injuries a day after he was hit from behind by an e-hailing car at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

According to Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, the 38-year old victim passed away at 3.03pm yesterday at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sibu Hospital, one day after the accident which happened at 3.10pm on Feb 15.

He disclosed that at the time of the accident, the victim who was a computer technician from Kemuyang Timur and the e-hailing service driver, 25, was travelling in the same direction towards the airport.


The deceased had been travelling on the outer lane of the dual carriageway when the accident happened. He suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Stanley added that the driver of the car had been arrested under Section 112 and Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving leading to death. — DayakDaily
