Classes called off at SK Nanga Balingiau due to rising flood water

Rising flood waters have forced SK Nanga Balingiau to cancel classes today (Feb 17, 2020).

KANOWIT, Feb 17: Rising flood waters have forced SK Nanga Balingiau today to send its 98 pupils home during recess.

According to the school’s senior assistant I Donald Slan, the flood water level is between one to three feet deept and is still rising as of 10am. It had been rising due to continuous rain since 6am today.

As a precaution, the Primary 1 to 5 pupils have been placed in the school computer lab while the Primary 6 pupils have been located to the teachers’ quarters.


Donald added, the road leading to the school was now only passable to heavy vehicles.

Meanwhile, SK Sungai Tuah is also affected by flood but classes for its 53 pupils have proceeded as usual.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, only the school compound was affected by the flood and the water level was not high. — DayakDaily
