BINTULU, Aug 31: A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed on the spot after being involved in an accident with a lorry at a traffic light intersection at Jalan Sibiew here, at 5pm yesterday.

According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, initial investigation revealed that the lorry had failed to stop upon reaching the traffic light due to a brake malfunction.

This resulted in the lorry crashing into a traffic light post before knocking the motorcyclist.

“It was a red light and the lorry did not manage to stop due to the brake problem and hit the rider,” he said.

The deceased has been identified as Hanaffiee Norsah from Kampung Jepak, Bintulu. The body has been taken to Bintulu Hospital morgue.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
