MUKAH, July 28: A fatal crash claimed a man’s life after the motorcycle he was riding skidded at KM83 of the Pan Borneo Highway along the Bintulu-Sibu route near Selangau early this morning.
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the accident occurred at about 6am, with the victim, identified as Badiuzzaman Nordin, pronounced dead at the scene.
He said preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding a blue Yamaha motorcycle alone from Bintulu towards Selangau.
“Upon arriving at the scene, the victim was believed to have lost control while at a bend before the motorcycle skidded onto the left shoulder of the road.
“As a result of the accident, the victim was thrown onto the road surface and suffered severe injuries to his head and hand,” he said in a statement.
Muhamad Rizal said medical personnel from Selangau Health Clinic who arrived at the scene confirmed that the victim had died.
The victim’s body was later taken to the Forensic Unit of Mukah Hospital for further action.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
