Motorcyclist dies after collision with 4WD at Serian

SERIAN, Nov 21: A 49-year-old motorcyclist died after a collision involving a four-wheel drive (4WD) at KM80, Jalan Kuching-Serian, yesterday.

According to the state Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the deceased, Lipon Nau from Kampung Antayan Kropok in Serian, was confirmed dead by medical personnel when receiving treatment in the “red zone” at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“The incident occurred after the deceased did not stop when he was going out of a junction on the right side of the road, and was hit by a 4WD that was heading towards Serian from Sri Aman.


“The deceased suffered severe head and leg injuries and it is believed that during the incident, he is not wearing his helmet,” said Alexson in a statement yesterday.

The police has carried out early investigation on the scene, including taking photos of the incident location and recording statement from witnesses, he added.

The case in being investigate under 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said. — DayakDaily
