Motorcyclist, 12, killed after colliding with telecom pole

KUCHING, June 28: A 12-year-old boy lost his life after losing control of his motorcycle and colliding with a telecommunications pole at Jalan Kolong Matang this afternoon.

The incident happened at 1.30pm as the deceased was heading towards Taman Malihah from Batu Kawa.

According to a statement issued by Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the deceased lost control of his motorcycle and collided into the pole at the left side of the road. The impact threw the deceased and the motorcycle into a drain.

The deceased received heavy injuries to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

The deceased’s body was later taken to SGH. The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
