Two perish after cement mixer truck plunges into Betong ravine

KUCHING, June 28: A lorry driver and his attendant were killed when their cement mixer truck fell into a ravine at Jalan Batu Pesok, Betong this afternoon.

According to a statement from the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, Bomba received an alert about the incident at 2.45pm and deployed a team to the scene immediately.


The cement mixer truck had fallen into a 10-metre deep ravine beside the road, trapping the 28-year-old driver and the 41-year-old lorry attendant.

Rescuers had to use an excavator to move and stabilise the truck in order to bring out the two trapped men.

The two men were pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer. The bodies were later handed over to the police. — DayakDaily
